Solving migraine problems with Suminat
Suminat is a kind of serotonin agonist used to treat migraine attack, thus helps in relieving headache and other related symptoms like nausea and sensitivity to light. It leads the dilated blood vessels in the head to constrict or narrow and returning them to normal states. Acute migraine attacks are first initiated by certain signals like perception of visual disturbances and smells. Suminat can be used to solvemigraine problems with or without the ambience.
These are particularly used for treatment of migraine attacks and the other associated symptoms like nausea or sensitivity to light and cannot be used to prevent migraine headaches. These are rapid-release tablets which can be used at any stage of the attack, but preferably, should be taken after the first signs of headache. Also, it can’t be used for other type of headaches.
This drug contains Sumatriptan, a type of the group of drugs called Tryptans. It is a serotonin agonist which acts similar to serotonin. Incidentally, serotonin is a brain chemical that controls mood, pain sensation, sexual behaviour, sleep, as well as dilation (widening) and constriction (narrowing) of blood vessels. Migraine is caused by dilatation or widening of blood vessels in the head due to some migraine triggers, which thus stimulates nearby sensory nerves which then causes pain.
Sumatriptan in tablets of Suminat stimulates these serotonin receptors in these expanded blood vessels and makes them narrow again and inhibits trigeminal nerve activity, slowly reducing pain. These processes contribute to the anti-migraine action of sumatriptan and relieve headache and other symptoms linked with migraine.
How effective is the drug?
These tablets are effective because they start workingwithin two hours, as they dissolve faster in the stomach after swallowing. Thus, the active component sumatriptan is released more rapidly, which accelerates absorption into the blood and reduces the time taken to reach its target receptors in the brain.
Suminat-50 50mg tablets consist of sumatriptan, a serotonin agonist and causes dilated blood vessels in the head to constrict, relieving headache and other symptoms of a migraine attack. Although this drug is very effective for migraine attacks, but it has got some side-effects, which mainly include dizziness, drowsiness, sensory disturbances like, tingling, pricking, or numbness of the skin, loss of sensitivity to pain or touch, shortness of breath, sensations of heaviness, pain, sensations of heat or cold, pressure or tightness, weakness, fatigue.
Precautions for use
You can take these tablets at any point of a migraine attack but it works more effectively if taken just after the first signs of headache are felt. You should take one or two 50mg tablets as recommended by the doctor with a glass of water, with or without food. It is suggested not to take another dose of the medicine for the same migraine, but you can take another dose if you have another attack in the next 24 hours, provided you do not take more than 300mg in a 24 hour period.
Suminat tablet is used in acute attack of migraine. This medication is a selective serotonin receptor agonist, prescribed for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults (severe, throbbing headaches that sometimes are accompanied by nausea and sensitivity to sound and light). It narrows blood vessels in the brain and by stopping pain signals from being sent to the brain.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. It can be taken with or without food, but it is better to take Suminat tablet at a fixed time.
Migraine headaches are thought to result from the dilatation of blood vessels in the head. Suminat tablet works by constricting (narrowing) these blood vessels, thereby relieving the migraine headaches.
Take Sumatriptan only as prescribed by the doctor. Using too much Sumatriptan may increase the chances of side effects. Notify your doctor if your migraine headaches are occurring more often, than before you started using Sumatriptan. Notify your doctor if you have used Sumatriptan for at least three consecutive months. Avoid driving after taking as it may cause drowsiness and dizziness.
